Baseball Recap: Keystone Heights Wins Going Away Against Interlachen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Keystone Heights). They put the hurt on the Interlachen Rams with a sharp 16-2 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won six in a row.

Ty Mitzel and Destin Harnage were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Mitzel pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Harnage tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Mitzel has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Mitzel scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Harnage scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Mitzel a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Wilson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also put up a stolen base, which washis first of the season. Another player making a difference was Guage Barry, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

The win got Keystone Heights back to even at 2-2. As for Interlachen, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Keystone Heights will welcome North Marion at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Interlachen, they will face off against Middleburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
