Basketball Recap: Lewis County Panthers vs. Summertown Eagles

The Lewis County Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 87-55 loss at the hands of Summertown. While losing is never fun, Lewis County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Eagles are ranked 158th).

Summertown's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Bryant, who scored 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bryant has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grayson Burleson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Lewis County has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Summertown, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis County will challenge the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Loretto's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Panthers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Summertown, they will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
