Football Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles vs. Valley Christian Defenders

For the first time this season, Capistrano Valley Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Valley Christian Defenders will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Capistrano Valley Christian will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating St. Margaret's, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Eagles secured a 21-16 W over the Tartans last Friday.

Luke Vincent was his usual excellent self, rushing for 133 yards and one TD while picking up 8.3 yards per carry.

Capistrano Valley Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Vincent and Benji Makelela. Capistrano Valley Christian got some further help from Michael Vukich: he forced one fumble and made 11 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian didn't have too much trouble with St. Anthony two weeks ago as they won 28-13. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Defenders.

The critical scores for Valley Christian came from Max Douglas, Sam Melcher, Tyson McNeese, and Oliver Boateng.

Valley Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Capistrano Valley Christian might still be hurting after the 33-13 defeat they got from Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Eagles, Austin Abrahams (who threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards and a pair of scores) won't be suiting up this time.
