Basketball Game Preview: Winnebago Lutheran Academy Vikings vs. Waupun Warriors

The Winnebago Lutheran Academy Vikings will take on the Waupun Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Winnebago Lutheran Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Waupun likes a good challenge.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lomira just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 60-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (56), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Waupun strolled past Kewaskum with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 71-54. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Indians are ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waupun has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Winnebago Lutheran Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy barely slipped by Waupun when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 75-74. Does Winnebago Lutheran Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Waupun turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
