Game recap: Lincoln Southwest high school football team conquers Pius X

Lincoln Southwest (Lincoln, Neb.) overcame Pius X (Lincoln, Neb.), 28-10.

The Silver Hawk were up 21-0 at the half after taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the second quarter.

Lincoln Southwest expanded its lead to 25 points entering the fourth quarter. LS's lone score in the quarter came on a rushing touchdown.

The Thunderbolts' lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Led by Josh Banderas, the Silver Hawk had given up an average of 16.1 points prior to the contest.



The defeat comes as a step back for Pius X, which notched a 34-14 victory over Lincoln Northeast in its previous outing. With the win Lincoln Southwest extended its winning streak to three games. The loss snapped Pius X's 3-game winning streak.

In a A District 5 game next week Pius X (5-3) takes on Lincoln Southeast, and Lincoln Southwest (5-3) will go up against Lincoln East also in a A District 5 game.
