Volleyball Recap: Silver Creek Dragons vs. Floyd Central Highlanders
After flying high against Salem on Wednesday, Silver Creek came back down to earth. The Dragons took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Floyd Central Highlanders on Thursday. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
While Silver Creek ultimately came up short, they really made Floyd Central work, particularly in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-27, 25-11, 27-25.
Brooklynn Renn paced Silver Creek's offense, picking up 17 kills. Renn got some help from Savannah Hooe and her 17 assists. Aryn Heeke controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Floyd Central found their leader in sophomore Autumn Engle, who had 19 digs and three aces.
Silver Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Floyd Central, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silver Creek will face off against Scottsburg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Floyd Central, they will take on DuPont Manual at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
