Palo Alto has gone 9-1 against Homestead recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Mustangs at 6:45 p.m.
Palo Alto is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Milpitas just ended the team's 13-match winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since November 14, 2024.
While Palo Alto ultimately came up short, they really made Milpitas work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 26-24, 25-17.
Meanwhile, Homestead had already won seven in a row and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Trojans.
Homestead got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 33-35, 19-25, 25-13, 15-13.
Palo Alto better focus on containing Lilian Logan and Selina Wang as the pair were huge in Homestead's win. Logan had 16 digs and two aces, while Wang had 20 assists and five digs. Those 16 digs gave Logan a new career-high. Tayla Yip also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Palo Alto's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Homestead, their win bumped their record up to 24-7.
Palo Alto skirted past Homestead 2-1 in their previous matchup back in September. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
