Baseball Recap: Pine Island Gets the Win

The Pine Island Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Rushford-Peterson Trojans on Saturday.

Ben Grabau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Alex Knox was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Bennett Matzek also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Pine Island's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5. As for Rushford-Peterson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Pine Island will be playing in front of their home fans against Goodhue at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rushford-Peterson, they will challenge Dover-Eyota at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
