Recap: Avon Lake Shoremen vs. Anthony Wayne Generals
The Avon Lake Shoremen and the Anthony Wayne Generals squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Avon Lake Shoremen had to settle for second. Avon Lake was outmatched by Anthony Wayne on the road and fell 59-14. While losing is never fun, Avon Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Anthony Wayne is ranked 48th).
Grant Kinnee had a dynamite game for Anthony Wayne, rushing for 197 yards on only ten carries, while also throwing for 167 yards and a touchdown on only 12 passes. Braden Gardner made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Avon Lake has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Anthony Wayne, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Avon Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Anthony Wayne will look to defend their home field on Friday against Highland at 7:00 p.m. Highland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
