Softball Game Preview: Lacey Township Lions vs. Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs

The Lacey Township Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lacey Township is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

On Thursday, it was close, but Lacey Township sidestepped Manchester Township for a 9-8 victory. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Sam Kohout, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Sophia Capone was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Lacey Township always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manchester Township only posted an OBP of .312.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Rumson-Fair Haven made sure to put some runs up on the board against Henry Hudson on Wednesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Admirals 14-8. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Admirals recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Evelyn (Evie) Chubrik was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Caitlin (Cate) Bush also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The victory got Lacey Township back to even at 7-7. As for Rumson-Fair Haven, their record now sits at 5-7.
