Baseball Game Preview: Yulee Hornets vs. Andrew Jackson Tigers

Yulee has gone a perfect 3-0 against Andrew Jackson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Yulee Hornets will head out to challenge the Andrew Jackson Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Andrew Jackson took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Yulee, who comes in off a win.

While Yulee's victory against Wolfson wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Yulee had just enough and edged out Wolfson 5-4 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since March 2, 2024.

Alex Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Yulee: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Davis was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Jackson Jones looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Riege, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Anderson Hammond also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Raines, falling 15-5. One positive for the Tigers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Lamar Stanfield was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavion Myers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Andrew Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Yulee, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
