Baseball Recap: Switzerland County Takes a Loss

Switzerland County lost against Madison back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Pacers fell just short of the Cubs by a score of 11-10. Even though they lost, the Pacers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.8 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Jackson Sparks was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Braxton Eaglin, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Switzerland County and nudges their season record down to 3-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Madison, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Switzerland County will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against New Washington at 5:30 p.m. As for Madison, they will venture away from home to take on Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Cubs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
