Recap: Druid Hills Red Devils vs. Southwest DeKalb Panthers
The Druid Hills Red Devils entered their tilt with the Southwest DeKalb Panthers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Druid Hills sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 win over Southwest DeKalb on Thursday. For Druid Hills, this counts as revenge for the 66-64 defeat Southwest DeKalb walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Southwest DeKalb had strong showings from Sam Turner, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Jackson Ushery, who scored 22 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Turner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Azeez Bello, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds and six assists.
Druid Hills' victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Southwest DeKalb, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Druid Hills won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Miller Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Miller Grove is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
