Basketball Game Preview: Curtis Baptist Crusaders vs. Wardlaw Academy Patriots

The Curtis Baptist Crusaders will face off against the Wardlaw Academy Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Curtis Baptist beat Hammond 34-29.

Curtis Baptist's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Maci Butler, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Jaliyah Terry, who posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Butler is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.

Meanwhile, Wardlaw Academy strolled past Richard Winn Academy with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 46-30.

Curtis Baptist pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins didn't necessarily come from the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Wardlaw Academy, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Curtis Baptist took their victory against Wardlaw Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 50-25. Will Curtis Baptist repeat their success, or does Wardlaw Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
