Basketball Recap: Lathrop Piles Up the Points Against El Camino

Lathrop was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against El Camino on Thursday. The Spartans took their matchup with ease, bagging a 74-39 victory over the Eagles. The Spartans not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since December 13, 2024 (when they won 70-24).

Leading Lathrop to victory were Nick Arceo and Bryan Gamboa. Arceo shot 67% from the field on his way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Gamboa went 8-for-12 to rack up 17 points and three steals. What's more, Gamboa also posted a 67% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Justin Neal, who posted 11 points.

The win got Lathrop back to even at 1-1. As for El Camino, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Lathrop will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Stagg at 7:30 p.m. on the 23rd. As for El Camino, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Aspire Langston Hughes Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
