Baseball Preview: East Union Lancers vs. Lincoln Fighting Zebras        
        
		
            
 The East Union Lancers will face off against the Lincoln Fighting Zebras at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as East Union comes in on five and Lincoln on eight.
 East Union is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup  on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Christian Brothers with a sharp  8-1 win.
  Joe Alvarez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Alvarez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Alvarez was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-3.
 In other batting news,  Blake Mount was  incredible,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Carson Sanders, who  scored two  runs.
 Meanwhile, in what's become a running theme this season, Lincoln gave their fans yet another huge  victory on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Rio Linda as Lincoln made off with  an  11-1 win.
 Like East Union, Lincoln also got a great game from a two-way player:  Kade Spomer. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out eight batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   five  hits (and not a single walk). Spomer was also big at the plate,  scoring three  runs while going 1-for-3.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Kenny Winters, who  went 2-for-3 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.  Landyn Plaut was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-3.
 East Union pushed their record up to 17-10 with that  victory, which was their third straight  at home. As for Lincoln, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won nine of their last ten matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 21-6-1 record  this season.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. East Union has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 8.3  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 8.1. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
