Basketball Game Preview: Ortonville Trojans vs. Yellow Medicine East Sting

The Ortonville Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Yellow Medicine East Sting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ortonville will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 77-9, which was the final score in Ortonville's tilt against Central Minnesota Christian on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Bluejays are ranked 66th).

Meanwhile, Yellow Medicine East was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Wabasso 76-34. The Sting have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 31 points or more this season.

The victory got Yellow Medicine East back to even at 6-6. As for Ortonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.

Ortonville ended up a good deal behind Yellow Medicine East in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, losing 71-52. Can Ortonville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
