Football Recap: Sacred Heart-Griffin Comes Up Short at Home Against Christian Brothers

Sacred Heart-Griffin unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Christian Brothers Cadets on Friday, falling 35-14. The Cyclones lost against the Cadets in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 45-0 score last time.

Nick McClellan was nothing short of spectacular for Christian Brothers: he rushed for 60 yards and one score, and also threw for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns on perfect 8-for-8 passing.

Looking ahead, Sacred Heart-Griffin will square off against Mascoutah at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Christian Brothers, they will challenge Cardinal Ritter College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
