The Somerset Academy Collegiate Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Great Hearts Western Hills Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset Academy Collegiate will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Somerset Academy Collegiate and Varsity Opponent have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Bears put the hurt on Varsity Opponent with a sharp 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Somerset Academy Collegiate was: they took every set by at least 14 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-8, 25-11.

Meanwhile, Great Hearts Western Hills posted their closest victory since September 5th on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past Bracken Christian 3-2.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (104-103) Great Hearts Western Hills actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 17-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-11.

Somerset Academy Collegiate better focus on containing Elsie Walter and Macayla Sandoval as the pair were huge in Great Hearts Western Hills' win. Walter had 15 digs and two aces, while Sandoval had eight digs and two assists.

Great Hearts Western Hills was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 20 consecutive matchups.
