Soccer Recap: Lamar Takes a Loss

After flying high against Woodland Park last Thursday, Lamar came back down to earth. The Thunder fell just short of the Manitou Springs Mustangs by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. Lamar were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than four goals in the three matches prior), but Manitou Springs' defense proved too tough.

With the defeat, Lamar broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3-2. As for Manitou Springs, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1-2.

Coming up, Lamar will take on Atlas Preparatory School at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lamar will be up against Atlas Preparatory School's rather soft defense (which has allowed 6.6 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Manitou Springs, they will challenge Eagle Ridge Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Manitou Springs are facing Eagle Ridge Academy at the right time seeing as Eagle Ridge Academy are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
