Rivercrest lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jayden Young, who picked up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 21 yards and a touchdown.
Leading Salem to victory were Kaden Brink and Ethan Birmingham. Brink rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, while Birmingham rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Brink's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 121 rushing yards. Jackson Taylor was another key player, rushing for 31 yards and two touchdowns.
Rivercrest moved to 11-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Salem, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Rivercrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Salem, they will challenge Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mansfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Salem likes a good challenge.
