Baseball Game Preview: Marshall Cardinals vs. Waterloo Pirates

For the second straight game, Marshall will face off against Waterloo. The Cardinals will be playing at home against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Marshall's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Waterloo 2-0. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cardinals as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

For Waterloo's part, Ryder Jaehnke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Waterloo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Bullock, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Bullock has hit this season.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Waterloo, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
