Recap: Sacred Heart Gremlins vs. Smithton Tigers
This season hasn't been kind to the Sacred Heart Gremlins, who are still winless after their fifth contest. Their tough 43-22 defeat to Smithton on Friday might stick with them for a while. Sacred Heart was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Smithton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Despite the defeat, Sacred Heart saw an underclassman step up: Bailee Vogel scored 8 points. Vogel scored a full 36.4% of Sacred Heart's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Paisley Carl, who scored 6 points.
Sacred Heart's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Smithton, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart will face off against Windsor at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Windsor and Sacred Heart are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. As for Smithton, they will head out on the road to face off against Jamestown at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
