Volleyball Recap: Temple Christian Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Temple Christian had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the New Covenant Gryphons on Thursday, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Crusaders in their meetings with the Gryphons: they've now lost eight in a row.

While Temple Christian had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-18, 25-19.

Among those leading the charge was Embry Carlton, who had eight digs and three assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in August of 2024.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Temple Christian will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Westover Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on the 26th. As for New Covenant, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Brunswick Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
