Basketball Recap: Millikan Drops Highest Score of Season Against Compton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Millikan). They blew past the Compton Tarbabes 96-49 on Wednesday. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Tarbabes are ranked 1187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Jeremiah Hunt, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Joseph Wicker was another key player, dropping a triple-double on 12 points, 11 boards, and ten assists.

Millikan was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Millikan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Compton, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

When Millikan and Compton next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Millikan will try to stop Long Beach Poly's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Millikan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Compton will take on Wilson and their three-game winning streak at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
