Baseball Recap: Maxton Creeger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Campus over Burbank

West Campus extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 12-13 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-0 to the Burbank Titans, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on Tuesday.

West Campus saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maxton Creeger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. The Warriors are 8-2 when Creeger posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-11 otherwise.

As for Burbank, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-10. Their pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

On Burbank's side, Uriel Angulo made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Angulo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Kevion Duplessis and Kevin Duplessis did most of the damage at the plate: Kevion went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Kevin went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Kevion has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Devin Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

West Campus does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Burbank, they will face off against Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
