Baseball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Broaddus Bulldogs, falling 22-12. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly ten runs.

Kase Lunsford made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryder Dillard, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Martinsville's record now sits at 0-4. As for Broaddus, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martinsville will venture away from home to face off against Centerville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centerville will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Broaddus, they are taking a road trip to square off against Neches at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
