Softball Recap: South Rowan Wins Going Away Against Carson

South Rowan never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Carson on Tuesday. They blew past the Cougars 14-0. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Carson's batters probably weren't too happy with Remi Hagerty, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up zero walks).

On the hitting side, South Rowan let Kynlee Dextraze and Cressley Patterson run wild. Dextraze went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Patterson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Patterson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lexie Ritchie, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: South Rowan lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

South Rowan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Carson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, South Rowan and Carson will both be playing Lake Norman Charter the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Raiders will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
