Basketball Game Preview: Drew Dragons vs. Oakland Military Institute Grizzlies

The Drew Dragons will challenge the Oakland Military Institute Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Drew lost to Gateway at home by a 69-50 margin. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 945th, while the Gators are ranked 362nd).

Despite their defeat, Drew saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lukas Wrobel, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Those 11 points gave Wrobel a new career-high. Nicholas Ordonez Reyes was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Oakland Military Institute humbled Summit Tamalpais with a 64-24 victory. The matchup marked the Grizzlies' most dominant victory of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Drew and nudges their season record down to 7-13. As for Oakland Military Institute, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.

Everything came up roses for Drew against Oakland Military Institute in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 69-23 victory. Does Drew have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oakland Military Institute turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
