Soccer Game Preview: Viera vs. Satellite

The Viera Hawks will square off against the Satellite Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Viera will be strutting in after a victory while Satellite will be coming in after a defeat.

Satellite is hoping to do what Melbourne couldn't on Monday: put an end to Viera's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Viera's defense stepped up to hand Melbourne a 4-0 shutout. Considering the Hawks have won seven matches by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Satellite was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell 2-0 to Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. While losing is never fun, the Scorpions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Tigers are ranked fifth).

Viera has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those eight matchups. As for Satellite, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4-1.

Viera came out on top in a nail-biter against Satellite when the teams last played back in November of 2023, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Viera since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
