Preview: Chittenango Bears vs. Fayetteville-Manlius Hornets
The Chittenango Bears will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Fayetteville-Manlius Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chittenango knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Fayetteville-Manlius likes a good challenge.
Chittenango fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Jamesville-DeWitt on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Rams by a score of 83-81. Chittenango has struggled against Jamesville-DeWitt recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Chittenango's loss came about despite a quality game from Ryan Moesch, who scored 55 points. The matchup was Moesch's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Hunter Taylor was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville-Manlius was the victim of a tough 59-38 defeat at the hands of Nottingham on Friday. Fayetteville-Manlius has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Chittenango's loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3. Fayetteville-Manlius' record is now 1-3.
Chittenango came up short against Fayetteville-Manlius in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 58-49. Can Chittenango avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
