Baseball Game Preview: Weymouth Wildcats vs. Newton North Tigers

The Weymouth Wildcats will face off against the Newton North Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Weymouth will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Monday. Weymouth came out on top against Milton by a score of 6-1.

Matthew Oates spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrew Daley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Will Pratt was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Newton North had just enough and edged out Brookline 3-1 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Newton North's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Weymouth, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5.

Weymouth took their win against Newton North in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
