Basketball Game Preview: Woodside Wolverines vs. Nansemond River Warriors

Woodside is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Nansemond River is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Woodside Wolverines will host the Nansemond River Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Woodside made easy work of Gloucester and carried off a 63-38 win. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Nansemond River's strategy against Grassfield on Tuesday. Nansemond River strolled past Grassfield with points to spare, taking the game 61-46. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won three in a row.

Nansemond River found their leader in sophomore Brittany Evans, who went 12-for-28 en route to 34 points and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Evans has scored at least a third of Nansemond River's points. Another player making a difference was Jordin Richardson, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Woodside has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. Nansemond River's win bumped their record up to 16-5.
