Preview: Organ Mountain Knights vs. Alamogordo Tigers
The Organ Mountain Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alamogordo Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Organ Mountain sitting on 19 straight victories and Alamogordo on four.
In what's become a running theme this season, Organ Mountain gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 81-51 victory over Gadsden. Given Organ Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Gadsden is ranked 76th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Organ Mountain had a senior duo take command as YehNhi Wilson scored 25 points along with five rebounds and four steals and Brandon Kehres dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. Ray Venegas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Alamogordo beat Centennial 53-48 on Friday.
Organ Mountain pushed their record up to 20-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Alamogordo, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.
Organ Mountain beat Alamogordo 56-43 when the teams last played back in January. Does Organ Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alamogordo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
