Softball Recap: Simley Takes a Loss

Simley came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Mahtomedi Zephyrs, falling 13-7. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Zephyrs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Simley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mahtomedi, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-5.

Coming up, Simley will take on Hastings at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mahtomedi, they have already played their next contest, a 14-2 loss against Two Rivers on the 23rd.
