Soccer Recap: James Island Takes Down Ranked Cardinal Newman

On Friday, James Island faced Cardinal Newman in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The James Island Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Cardinal Newman Cardinals. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by just one goal.

James Island is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. With the defeat, Cardinal Newman broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James Island will challenge Summerville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give James Island their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Cardinal Newman, they will venture away from home to face off against Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
