Softball Game Preview: Osseo Orioles vs. Blaine Bengals

Osseo hasn't had much luck against Blaine recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Orioles will face off against the Bengals at 4:30 p.m.

Osseo lost 8-2 to Anoka on Tuesday. The Orioles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Osseo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabelle Biehn, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. That hit was Biehn's first of the season.

Blaine came out on top against Totino-Grace on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Bengals put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 9-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bengals in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Ella McGraw looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Marin Aman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Emmie Sylvia-Cochran was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Osseo's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Blaine, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Osseo's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Orioles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Blaine, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Osseo continue to outrun the ball?

Osseo suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Blaine in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Orioles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
