Football Recap: Brunswick Comes Up Short on the Road Against Mecklenburg County

Brunswick kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were dealt a 47-14 defeat at the hands of the Mecklenburg County Phoenix. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 51-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Brunswick and Mecklenburg County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Bulldogs will square off against Essex at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (252 vs. 77). Meanwhile, Mecklenburg County (ranked 222nd) will meet Hopewell (ranked 96th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
