Volleyball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens lost against Superior back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bluejays fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 2-1. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sy'Rih Hartwig paced Athens' offense, picking up nine kills. Hartwig got some help from Alyvia Haehlke and her 11 assists. Finally, Hartwig was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Superior, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Athens has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Cadott on the 29th. As for Superior, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Rice Lake on the 29th.
