Softball Recap: Hampden Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Hampden had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Oxford Hills Vikings 10-8. The victory was nothing new for the Broncos as they're now sitting on four straight.

Cat Facchini was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 8.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-6 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Piper Parker, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Coon, who went 1-for-5 with two runs and one triple.

Hampden's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Oxford Hills, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-4.

As of now, neither Hampden nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
