Basketball Recap: Ahmed Mohammed Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Adams City

Gateway lost to Adams City back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Gateway Olympians walked away with a 49-39 victory over the Adams City Eagles.

Gateway's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ahmed Mohammed, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Bryan Lozano was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Gateway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Adams City still got an impressive performance from Jojo Martinez, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Garcia, who posted six points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Gateway's record is now 5-11. As for Adams City, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Gateway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-70 defeat against Skyline on the 1st. As for Adams City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-37 loss against Thornton on the 30th.
