Recap: Catholic Central Crusaders vs. Lansingburgh Knights

The Catholic Central Crusaders waltzed into their game on Saturday with 12 straight wins but they left with 13. They enjoyed a cozy 70-53 victory over Lansingburgh. Given Catholic Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Lansingburgh is ranked 76th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Catholic Central found their leader in underclassman Darien Moore, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. Moore is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavjon Arroyo, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Catholic Central pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.6 points per game. As for Lansingburgh, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will face off against Elmira at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Elmira will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Lansingburgh, they will head out on the road to take on Stillwater at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Stillwater's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
