Baseball Recap: Sand Creek Finds Home Field Redemption Against Erie-Mason

There's no place like home for Sand Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Erie-Mason Eagles 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Aggies in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Ivan Wilkinson was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has become a key player for Sand Creek: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 5-7 otherwise. Wilkinson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dane Morrin, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Andon Sutherland, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Sand Creek now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Erie-Mason, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-13-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Eagles beat Sand Creek by a score of 4-1 later that day.
