Preview: Fleming Island Golden Eagles vs. Clay Blue Devils
Fleming Island is 6-0 against Clay since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Fleming Island Golden Eagles will play host again and welcome the Clay Blue Devils, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Fleming Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
Fleming Island posted their biggest win since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Flagler Palm Coast 65-44.
Among those leading the charge was Victoria Noble, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ariana Pierce, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Clay has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a tough blow on Monday as they fell 55-40 to St. Johns Country Day.
Fleming Island has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-11 record this season. As for Clay, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.
Everything came up roses for Fleming Island against Clay in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 58-13 victory. With Fleming Island ahead 33-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
