Baseball Game Preview: Atascadero Greyhounds vs. Lompoc Braves

The Atascadero Greyhounds will face off against the Lompoc Braves at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Atascadero 4.1, Lompoc 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Last Thursday, Atascadero didn't have quite enough to beat Pioneer Valley and fell 4-3.

Weston Witt put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Witt was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Witt wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Savino, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Lompoc had just enough and edged out Mission College Prep 2-1 on Friday.

Atascadero dropped their record down to 8-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Lompoc, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Atascadero skirted past Lompoc 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Greyhounds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
