Basketball Recap: Altamont Drops Season-High Score on Tabiona

Altamont scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They lost to the Tabiona Tigers at home by a 73-55 margin. The defeat continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Altamont still got an impressive performance from Breyden Jessen, who went 9 for 19 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Those three steals gave Jessen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Case Sorensen, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Altamont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Tabiona had a senior duo take command as Bryson Fabrizio went 9 of 13 on his way to 23 points and four steals and Gavin Rhoades dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 boards set a new season-high mark for Rhoades. The team also got some help courtesy of Verdis Winder, who had eight points.

Altamont's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Tabiona, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Altamont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-45 defeat against Manila on the 11th. As for Tabiona, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-16 win against Mount Vernon on the 9th.
