It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Victoria West had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Alice Coyotes, posting a 63-13 victory. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Jenesis Jeffries was his usual excellent self, rushing for 151 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominick Martinez, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was Victoria West's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Alice's QB won't forget Jacob Freeman anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Andrew Henley was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing a fumble, and making eight total tackles (2.5 for loss).
Victoria West was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alice only rushed for 92.
Although Alice took the loss, they still got scores from Landon Guerra and Ryder Salaiz.
The win was the fourth in a row for Victoria West, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.8 points. As for Alice, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.
Victoria West has already played their next match, a 59-15 loss against Boerne on the 29th. Alice does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
