Baseball Game Preview: Juanita Ravens vs. Lake Washington Kangaroos

Juanita hasn't had much luck against Lake Washington recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Ravens will venture away from home to face off against the Kangaroos at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Juanita sitting on three straight wins and Lake Washington on four.

While Juanita's victory against Mercer Island wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ravens had just enough and edged out the Islanders 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ravens have posted since March 28th.

Lincoln Cohen looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Ian Flynn was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Lake Washington put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They put the hurt on Mount Si with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Kangaroos, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Malachi Toungate and Aidan Mehlberg did most of the damage at the plate: Toungate got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Mehlberg got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Toungate continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Will Cooley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Lake Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Juanita's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Washington, their record now sits at 12-7.
