Baseball Recap: East Union Lancers vs. Oakdale Mustangs        
        
		
            
 East Union was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They fell  9-6 to the Oakdale Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to East Union of the  9-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  last Wednesday.
  Jackson Fay put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Fay was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as he's  now  stolen  at least one in the last four games he's  played.
 In other batting news,  Kirk Simoni was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 1-for-4 with four  RBI and a  double.  Carson Sanders was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 Even though they lost, East Union  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 12  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakdale only tossed seven.
 Like East Union, Oakdale also got a great game from a two-way player:  Tommy Chance. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Chance was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Glen Weber, who  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI and a  double. Another player making a difference was  Christian Diebner, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 East Union's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Oakdale, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
 East Union will head out on the road to  challenge  Central Catholic at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Oakdale, they will  take on Kimball at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. Kimball is coming into the  contest with four straight  defeats at home,  meaning Oakdale will have to defend against a  squad hungry for a  win.
