Basketball Recap: Great Plains Lutheran's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a good run, but Great Plains Lutheran unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Waubay/Summit Mustangs. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Great Plains Lutheran lost, don't look at Austin Rubendall. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-11 en route to 23 points. The dominant performance gave Rubendall a new career-high in points. Brody Scharlemann was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Great Plains Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Waubay/Summit, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Great Plains Lutheran has already played their next contest, a 63-52 win against Oldham-Ramona/R on the 22nd. As for Waubay/Summit, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-40 victory against Sioux Falls Lutheran on the 21st.
